Maybelline Superstay 24 Lipcolor Keep Up The Flame & Constant Toast

Rated: 3/5.!

So I got something different but exciting to try this month for free.! Influenster and Maybelline sent me the Maybelline Superstay 24 lip color Vox Box, which included shades Keep Up The Flame and Constant Toast. I swatched these on my hand the day the box came in and really liked the colors (and they held there for 6 days despite multiple showers and hand washings. Whaatt.!) I'm not much of a lipstick wearer, but I've always been interested, so I was excited to get to try these out. This liquid lipstick is a two step system, you apply the first, which is the color, and let it sit for 2 minutes to dry. Then you apply the clear lipstick coat throughout the day to keep your lips moisturized and the color shiny, which isn't great if you wanted a matte lip, but does provide a beautiful satin finish. The top coat was surprisingly moisturizing though on top of such a drying product too.!
I tried Keep Up The Flame first, as it was a really ruby red color on my hand, and I was just wearing it around the house. It was a bit darker than I was expecting it to be, but I still really liked it. I'm not a huge fan of bright red lips, so I liked the way this one looked with my skin tone. It was much darker than I thought it'd be, and it ended up being a calmer red than it appears on the bottle, even with the moisturizer top. It held up really well through kisses, eating, and drinking through the day. It did flake a little bit (which it does more than just wearing off like a normal lipstick would) but nothing too bad that required a touch up. I actually had some fun trying to get it off before bed, lol. Definitely recommend using something oil based to get it off.!

The next day I broke out Constant Toast. This was suuuuchhh a pretty warm pink color on my hand, but.. on my lips... It was horrific, haha. It just did not agree with my skin tone at all. My fiance lovingly told me I looked dead wearing it, thanks babe.! It was so light it was scary. I could barely bring myself to take photos of it, because I didn't want to keep it on. It was streaky, sticky, and just a bad color for me. This was a big NOPE, so I ended up compromising and starting over. I applied a good bit of this color to my lips, and mixed in some of the Keep Up The Flame with it, creating a really nice pinkish red color (picture below). I wore that all day, and since Constant Toast was my base, I'm assuming this was why my results varied a lot from when I used KUTF alone. This flaked, wore off a good bit, and just faded a lot through the day. Not a big deal, but definitely goes to show that different colors use slightly different formulas with liquid lips and that's why darker colors usually work out a lot better.!

So, overall, I'd love to try out a few different colors they carry in this line, as I thought Keep Up The Flame carried over all very nice results for an all day lip color. I will absolutely being staying away from shades similar to Constant Toast though, haha. They offer a ton of colors, so I'm sure I'll find some others that work well for me. I wish it wasn't a two step system, like most liquid lips today aren't, but oh well. I still like this product and at a low price point (under $10.!) it's a win for me.! I'll be doing a short YouTube video about this soon too, so keep an eye for that. I'll be applying Keep Up The Flame in it for you guys.! :)

The custom color I made by mixing up Constant Toast and Keep Up The Flame.
Excuse the thick red line on the bottom, I had touched up my bottom lip some and apparently didn't fully blend it fully again. Oops.! Oh well, the trial and error of playing with liquid lipsticks, haha.

I received the reviewed product for free, in exchange for my complete honest opinion. I do not receive any profit from any links I include in this post, and all photos included are mine unless stated otherwise. Thanks.! :)
